SLATE Partners Advises APS FireCo on its Sale to Marmic Fire & Safety Co.

SLATE Partners (“SLATE”) announced that its Principals advised APS FireCo (“APS” or the “Company”) on its sale to Marmic Fire & Safety Co. (“Marmic”), a fire and life safety services company based in Joplin, Missouri, and a portfolio company of HGGC, a Palo Alto-based private equity fund.

Founded in 1981 in a suburb of Tulsa, Oklahoma, APS FireCo provides the most comprehensive suite of fire and life safety services in the South-Central U.S., as well as special hazards services nationwide and internationally. Serving property owners, property managers, and contractors, APS performs recurring repairs, service, and inspections, as well as design, engineering, and installation of special hazard suppression systems, water-based suppression systems, fire extinguishers and pre-engineered systems, and fire alarm and detection devices. Its differentiated offering, sophisticated operations, and unmatched special hazard capabilities make APS the leading fire and life safety services company in the region.

Aaron Bachik, co-founder and Managing Partner of SLATE, commented, “This was the fifth fire and life safety services transaction we have worked on at SLATE, thus when we met APS for the first time, we knew immediately how unique its special hazards capabilities were and how that would drive significant interest from all types of acquirers. The transaction was a tremendous success for the sellers and Marmic now owns a truly special asset.”

Chad Mariska, CEO of APS FireCo, remarked, “It was extremely important for us to have an M&A advisor that was intimately familiar with the fire protection industry and its key strategic acquirers. SLATE quickly came up to speed on our company and knew how to articulate our unique special hazards capabilities. We could not be more pleased with their services.”

APS FireCo received legal representation in the transaction from Hall Estill and accounting advisory from Riveron.
